About:

CSULB Esports & Gaming Association welcome any and all students who would like to be involved with the organization. Our board and intern positions are great opportunities to gain real-world experience while making an impact for the organization. When applicable, we strive to create positions that would best fit the applicant’s field of interest. Check below to see some of the roles and positions we currently have! Roles:

Executive Board

The Executive Board are the directors for how the organization is operated. From the big picture decisions to even the most minute details, everything that happens within the organization is overseen by them.

President
The President is the head of the organization. They are responsible for leading and representing CSULB Esports in all official affairs and public outreach events.
Vice President
As the President’s right hand, the Vice President oversees human resources. They propose new projects, assist the President with public relations responsibilities, and hold everyone accountable for the work that they put in.
Treasurer
The Treasurer is the person that is in charge of the organization’s finances. They are responsible for budget allocation and fundraising for future events.
Secretary
The Secretary is the organization’s record keeper and historian. They keep detailed and accurate records of all activities such as, meeting minutes and special events.
Team Coordinator
Team coordinators are responsible for communicating to team managers and making sure that they get the resources that they need.
ASI-Esports Association Liason
The ASI-Esports Association Liason is ASI’s representative to facilitate ASI and CSULB Esports communications. They create and coordinate ASI tournaments for the student body at CSULB.
Community

The Community Division is the team that ensures that CSULB Esports and Gaming Association remains a friendly and inclusive organization.

Community Coordinator
As a community coordinator, responsibilities include creating and hosting tournaments, organizing special events, and answering questions that anyone has about our organization.
Community Manager
As a community manager, responsibilities include maintaining good public relations with the game community of their choice and organizing tournaments and special events.
Discord Moderator
Competitive

The Competitive Division encapsulates everything behind our competitive teams. They are the ones who support our teams to help them be the best that they can.

Team Coordinator
Team coordinators are responsible for communicating to team managers and making sure that they get the resources that they need.
Team Manager
Team managers ensure team success by updating any registration requirements for tournaments and the school’s administration. Additionally, they organize practice games and mediate internal team disputes should they arise.
Team Coach
Team coaches are the experts in their respective games. They provide in-game strategic support for the team that they are on.
Media

The Media Team is the backbone of the organization. With a focus towards marketing, they are the ones who make sure that our players and organization receive the recognition that they deserve.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Do I have to be a student to join board? Yes, you have to be a student to join board.
What if there is a role that I want to fulfil that isn’t listed? Ask us! We might be able to find a place for you to fit in!
What are the requirements of joining board? The requirements for joining board are maintaining at least a 2.5 GPA and being able to commit at least 20 hours per month for board duties.
What if I don’t have experience? Will it affect my chances of being a part of board? It won’t affect your chances! Having experience only increases your chances of being selected!
Do I need a portfolio to sign up for any media team roles? While a portfolio is not required, having a portfolio or some sort of highlight reel is generally recommended.
What is the onboarding process like? If accepted, you would be trained as an intern for the role of your choice. After successfully serving as an intern, you would be promoted to the full position.
Who are the types of candidates that you’re looking for? We are looking for people who are friendly and know how to take initiative!
Are these positions paid? No, every position is a volunteer role. While they aren’t paid, these positions are great opportunities to grow your career and to learn more about the esports industry!
When do board applications open and close? Our applications are open all year long. We generally interview and onboard newcomers in the middle of each semester.
Do these positions count for internship credit? No, they do not.
